Pre-Startup Checklist

To ensure continued satisfactory operation, perform the following checks or inspections before each startup.

  • Ensure the generator is level.

  • Check the fuel level and ensure that the system is primed.

  • Check the bowl of the diesel fuel pre-filter for any signs of water at the bottom of the bowl. Drain if required.

  • Check the remaining operating hours before the next service is due.

  • Check the interior and exterior of the generator for any signs of coolant or oil leaks.

  • Check the engine oil level.

  • Check the radiator coolant level at the top expansion tank sight gauge.

  • Check the hydraulic oil level.

  • Check the condition and tension in the serpentine drive belt at the front of the engine.

  • Ensure that the generator is properly grounded / earthed with an approved grounding electrode as per CSA Electrical Code requirements and site conditions.System Ground and System Bond connectors

  • Downstream devices should be bonded to the System Bond connector located next to the System Ground connector.

  • Ensure that all generator circuit breakers are turned off.

  • Make all required electrical connections between the required loads and the generator connection panel.

  • Ensure that all loads connected to the generator are turned off.
